Embossing and debossing are the processes of creating either raised or recessed relief images and designs in paper and other materials.
An embossed pattern is raised against the background (the paper protrudes TOWARD THE VIEWER), while a debossed pattern is sunken into the surface of the material (but might protrude somewhat on the reverse, back side).

Thermographic Printing (Raised Letter Printing) is a process where a special powder is added to the wet ink printed areas of your design and then the printed piece is passed through a radiant oven, exposed to temperatures between 900 and 1300°C for 2 to 3 seconds.
As it passes through the oven, the substrate rises in temperature, causing the powder-coated elements of the page to melt and transform until they look shiny, raised and slightly bubble-like giving the printed areas of your piece a raised or even 3D-esque appearance.
